The AI Assistant builds and edits your form from plain-language requests. This article walks through generating a form, building from a document, refining the result, and keeping control of every change.
How the AI Assistant works
You describe what you want, and the AI makes the change on your form right away. You can ask it to build a whole form, add or change fields, organize sections and pages, set validation, and create rules. After each change, you keep the conversation going to refine the result.
The AI Assistant appears in two places:
- The start screen, when you create a new form
- The AI Assistant tab in the left panel, while you edit a form
Every change the AI makes is tracked, so you can undo or redo it.
Generate a form from a description
- In the portal, go to My Forms.
- Create a new form.
- On the start screen, describe the form you need. For example, enter Create a safety inspection form with a photo, GPS location, and a signature.
- Select the send button.
- Wait while the AI builds your form. Progress messages show each step.
- Review the sections and fields the AI created.
Tip: The more specific your description, the closer the first draft. Name the fields and field types you expect, such as a dropdown for status or a long text field for notes.
Start from an idea or a blank form
- To start from a suggested form, select one of the idea chips, such as Inspection Checklist or Work Order.
- To build everything yourself, select start from scratch to open a blank form. The AI Assistant is still available whenever you need it.
Build a form from a PDF or photo
You can turn a paper form into a mobile form.
- On the start screen or in the AI Assistant panel, select Upload PDF or Take photo.
- Choose a file, or capture a photo of your paper form.
- To add more pages, attach more files. Use the arrows to put them in the right order.
- Select the send button.
- The AI reads the documents and builds a matching form.
Note: Each file must be 10 MB or smaller. Supported types are PDF, JPG, and PNG.
Refine your form
After the first draft, keep working in the AI Assistant panel.
- Describe the change you want. For example, enter Add a notes field after the location.
- Select Send.
- Review the change on the canvas and in the live preview.
- Repeat until the form matches what you need.
Tip: Build in small steps. Each request changes the form right away, and smaller changes are quicker to review and undo.
Focus a request on specific fields
You can tell the AI to act only on the fields you choose.
- On the canvas, select the checkbox on each field you want to change.
- In the canvas toolbar, select Assistant.
- A context pill shows your selection, such as 5 fields.
- Enter your request, such as Make these required, then select Send.
The AI applies your request to the selected fields only.
Use suggestions
- The AI Assistant shows starter prompts based on your form, such as Make all required, Add signature, or Split into pages. Select one to run it.
- The AI can also reply with suggested fields, sections, or options. Select a suggestion to add it to your next request.
Dictate a request
- In the AI Assistant panel, select the voice input button.
- Allow microphone access if your browser asks.
- Speak your request. It appears in the input box.
- Select Send.
Note: Voice input works in Chrome, Edge, and Safari.
Undo or redo a change
- To reverse the last AI change, select Undo.
- To reapply a change, select Redo.
The Undo and Redo buttons show how many changes are available. The AI Assistant keeps the last 20 changes.
When the AI asks a question
The AI doesn't always change the form. It may reply with a question or a suggestion when your request isn't clear. Answer in the chat, and it continues.
If a build fails, the AI opens an empty form and explains what happened, so you can describe your form and build it step by step.
