When creating a dispatch, users can link resources using the Link Resources panel. The Resource Type dropdown will only display Data Tables that have a Tag Display Name configured.
If a Data Table does not have a Tag Display Name set, it will not appear in the dropdown, and no error message will be shown.
This guide walks you through how to configure a Tag Display Name so your Data Table can be used for resource linking.

Prerequisites
Before getting started, make sure you have:
- Permissions: Admin, List Editor, or Builder access
Steps to Configure Tag Display Name
- Go to Lists → Data Tables in the FastField portal
- Locate the Data Table you want to configure
- Click Actions → Edit
- Find the Tag Display Name dropdown
- Select the column you want to use as the display name
- Click Save
Once saved, the Data Table will appear in the Resource Type dropdown when linking resources to a dispatch.
Best Practice
Choose a column that clearly identifies each record, such as:
- Asset Name
- Equipment ID
Avoid using generic fields like “Status,” as they may not provide enough detail when selecting resources.
Troubleshooting
Data Table not showing in Resource Type dropdown?
- Make sure a Tag Display Name has been selected
- Verify the table was saved successfully
Can I remove a Tag Display Name?
At this time, once a Tag Display Name is set, it cannot be removed. This may change in a future update.
