Prerequisites
Before you get started, make sure you have the following:
- FastField Account: You need an active FastField account.
- Slack App: Ensure you have access to your Slack workspace.
- Slack Channel ID: This will be the unique ID of your desired channel in your Slack Workspace.
How to find your Channel ID in Slack:
- Open Slack
- Navigate to the desired channel you want to use to receive the message and file
- Click on the channel name at the top of the screen to view the Channel details
- The Channel ID can be found at the bottom of the channel details.
Connecting FastField With Slack
To set up the Slack integration:
- Go to the FastField Portal and log in with your credentials.
- In the Portal, go to Workflow > Integrations and select + New Integration.
- Under Choose an integration, choose Send to Slack.
- Name your integration and select Connect and Authorize with Slack. Then, select Allow to authorize the integration.
- Select Add to finalize the integration. You'll be able to disconnect and reconnect this integration at any time by toggling the Enabled button on the Integrations page.
Integrating Slack Into a Global Workflow
Slack can also be integrated into Global Workflow actions. To do this:

- In the FastField Portal, go to Workflow > Global Workflow and select + New Integration.
- Name your workflow and choose whether you want to assign this workflow action to any form or a specific form.
- Under Perform these actions select Send to Slack from the dropdown list.
- Next, name your action and choose either an existing or new Slack integration. If you've already authorized Slack through the integrations tab, those integrations will be shown here.
- Enter your Slack Channel ID to where you want to receive notifications.
- You can also enter a title and comment for your Slack notification.
Want to further customize your Slack notification? Make it dynamic by adding fields to your title and comment so that they automatically include data from form submissions. This will make it easier to locate and identify specific forms!
- Select which format(s) you would like for your submission to be delivered as (PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, XML, JSON).
