Overview
Add a field to your form that allows users to enter an email address, and when the form is submitted, this address will automatically receive a report and email notification.
How to Set Up the Email From Field Action
1. In the Form Builder, add a field that will allow a user to enter or select an email address. This could be any of the following supported field types:
-
- Text
- Dropdown List (multi-select and single select)
- Option List (multi-select and single select)
- Global List (multi-select and single select)
- Lookup List (multi-select and single select)
- Static Text
- Calculation Field (Computed Label)
- Barcode
- NFC Reader
2. After saving your form, select the Delivery button.
3. Add the Email From Field action to Form Submit Actions.
4. Under the Email From Field menu on the right, choose the field that will collect the email address from the Field Key drop-down menu.
-
- You can search for your field by entering the field key or field name, and it will populate with your form's search results. It is important that your form is published with your most current version.
5. Fill out the contents of the email that will be sent. You can also select your desired format of the form report that will be sent.
6. Save, publish, and share your form when ready.
Now, when the form is submitted from the app, it will automatically send this email to the address inputted on that form field.
Note: Currently, in this V.1 version, there is no email validation. This means that if a user enters their email address incorrectly, it will not send the email, and no parties will be notified. At a later date, we will add email validation. We do not have an ETA for this yet.
Known Limitations
- This function does not work in repeating sections or in a subform.
- There is no email validation when an email address is inputted on the form.
